The Florida Lottery is once again the news of the nation, rolling over to a $30 million jackpot, after no entries matched Saturday night's draw. In Florida, an extra dollar spent on a single ticket increases the payout by $10 million, and two extra dollars invested in a single draw increases the pot by $25 million.

Accordingly, Wednesday night's draw in Florida may pay as high as $55 million, ensuring brisk business at the state's retailers tomorrow. Florida's Lotto has not paid a winner since July 16th. Since then, the jackpot has rolled over seven times.

Wednesday's drawing alone is expected
to generate over $21 million for Florida's educational system. Saturday's number were 1, 6, 9, 12, 38, and 49, and suprisingly no one hit the jackpot.

Usually, a draw of low numbers result in winners because many entries are based on specific systems with only low numbers available. For example, birthdates, ages of children, and other personal information are more likely to be on the low end of the lottery range.

There were 125 players matching five numbers, winning $4,046. Over 7300 people matched four picks, and won $56. The $4 consolation prize went to 137,000 players for matching three of the six.
