Kentucky Latest State To Report Record Increase In Lottery Ticket Sales

Record Sales The state of Kentucky has been known for a lot of things. Being a leader in lottery sales was not one of those things. That is, until this past year. The state set a new record for ticket sales in the fiscal year that just ended.
The Kentucky Lottery Corp. revealed on Monday that in the fiscal year that ended this past June 30th, the state set a record for their amount of ticket sales. The record was broken for the second year in a row.

Scratch off tickets have become increasingly popular in many of these states. "This ticket category grew $31.3 million, to $470.9 million, 7.1 percent higher than last year," said Lottery President Arch Gleason.
What comes along with record sales is also record payouts. $493.1 million was paid out by the state lottery in prize money. That figure accounted for 63.4 percent of the total sales.
