Virginia Lottery The Virginia Lottery is coming under heat as of late as a result of a lawsuit filed on Friday. Professor Scott Hoover is the man suing the lottery. claiming they have deceived the public.
The accusations stem from scratch off lottery tickets that have been sold over the past five years. Hoover claims that the state lottery continued to sell tickets after the top prize on the particular game had been won.
The state found out about the lawsuit earlier this month when Hoover's attorney, John Fishwick, alerted the lottery that he was filing the suit. Upon
Hoover is claiming that by selling the tickets after the top prize has been won, that the lottery is being deceitful on their promised top prize on the tickets they are selling. It is thought that 26.5 million tickets were sold after top prizes had been awarded.
The lawsuit is asking for over $80 million to compensate people who were duped into believing they had a shot at grand prizes that no longer existed. The suit was filed on Friday in Richmond Circuit Court.
